What is Drum Foundations?

Drum Foundations are professionally recorded drum loops featuring rock’s premier drummers. It’s the closest you can get to having a real drum legend perform on your recordings. Each volume contains a collection of stylized loops organized in Drum Session folders by BPM and style. Each loop is labeled with a suggested use - chorus, verse, fill etc - so you can get straight to work creating first-class drum tracks.

What format is Drum foundations available in?

Drum Foundations is available in 16-bit, 44.1khz WAV files - in stereo and multi-track versions. Drum Foundations is also available in Apple Loops for Garageband, Soundtrack, Logic 7 and other compatible software.

What format do I need?

Good question.

Cubase - Acid WAV (full support from Cubase SX3), earlier versions - REX2

Cakewalk Sonar, Guitar Tracks, Home Studio - Acid WAV

Garageband, Soundtrack - Apple Loops or Acid WAV

Logic 7 - Apple Loops or Acid WAV (Pre Logic 7 use REX2)

Digital Performer - The most popular format for Digital Performer is REX files. However, Digital Performer has added Acid file support (version 3.1 and above) and Apple Loops (version 4.5 and above).

DAW (Roland VS1680, Boss 1180CD, Tascam etc.) - Most DAWs have an import WAV function - we recommend the Acid WAV loops

Ableton Live - Acid Wav

Sonic Foundry Acid - Acid WAV

What is the difference between the stereo and multi-track versions?

The stereo loops are professionally mixed down to stereo files and pre-mastered. Our multi-track collections include the original multi-track files for each loop - Kick, Snare, Hat, Tom OH and Room - so you can mix your own drum sound.

What recording software are the loops compatible with?

All our PC/Mac CD-Roms provide loops that are compatible with any audio sequencer that will accept 16-bit, 44.1khz audio files - including Sonar, Guitar Tracks, Home Studio, Logic Audio, Cubase SX and Digital Performer. Check here to work out which format you need - or ask us if you need any help.

Can I adjust the tempo of the loops?

If you have software that has time stretch capabilities then these loops are ideal. All WAV files are Acidized and optimized for use in Cakewalk Sonar, Home Studio and Guitar Tracks. The Apple Loops files have been optimized using the Apple Soundtrack Loop Utility, for use in GarageBand, Soundtrack and Logic 7.

Can I mix and match loops from different sets?

We mixed each set identically so you can mix and match different parts from different sets. And using a timestretch program such as Sonar or Acid you’ll be able to create even more combinations.

How can I use the single hits?

The single hits can be used to spice up the loops - ie. add a crash cymbal over a loop join - or to build full kits using your software sampler.

Licensing and usage

Essentially - if you are the original purchaser of a SessionLoops collection - you can use the loops in your own songs - commercial or otherwise. Please don’t share the loops - just spread the word when you hear how good they are!

What exactly am I actually buying?

When you buy a Sampling CD, you are NOT obtaining OWNERSHIP of the sounds - you are actually purchasing a LICENSE to use the sounds within your music. Whether or not your work is released commercially. SessionLoops will always remain the owner of the sounds.

How can I use the sounds?

You may use the sounds in combination with other sounds within your music. You may release such compositions commercially without payment of any further fees to SessionLoops. BUT - you cannot use the sounds in isolation - for example - you cannot use the sounds to make another sample CD, or "library music" sound file album, or multimedia sound library CD-ROM.

Who else can use the sounds on the CD that I have purchased?

Nobody, unless they also purchased the same CD from brand new. Only the ORIGINAL PURCHASER of the CD has the right to use the sounds. This means that you CANNOT SELL or give the sounds to anyone else. If you do, and they use the sounds within a commercial release, they will have to pay royalties to SessionLoops for using the sounds.

Do I have to credit my use of the sounds on my album sleeve?

No. But let’s face it - it might be pretty cool to have a credit that reads - “Drums - Simon Phillips - courtesy of SessionLoops.”.
